County Cork to Bristol 2012

Many thanks to you-all who have contributed to St Peter's JustGiving (now closed) .  £721plus gift aid of about £150 is what we have collecetd: we cycled all the way home from  the wonderful Irish hospitality of Michael's family in County Cork. We travelled through Youghal and along the remote Gaeltacht up and down coast of County Waterford to Tramore and Passage East; on to

County Wexford (the other) Tintern Abbey and Rosslare,

where the skies opened and rain flooded out all the way through Fishguard, Rosebush and the mountains of Preseli to Carmarthen; Onto Kidwelly in the gathering gloom and then the morning's lovely estuary and railway path ride to Swansea; through industrial Port Talbot and  then the Sustrans Route 4 railway paths most of the way to Tonyrefail.; over the incredibly steep lanes to Pontypridd (and fortuitously we missed a part of the Sustrans route which was even steeper); up the steady railway paths to Caerphilly and along rain soaked roads to Newport; past (it was closed) the Transporter Bridge and up to Chepstow and the Severn Bridge; finally up to St Peters Hospice and home in Westbury park and Redland, Bristol. 280 miles in all and we haven't yet worked out the total height climbed. We all supported eachother and our bikes to reach Alison's welcoming meal.
